Ride for Education
One Pedal at a Time
1. Introduction
Opening Doors Cambodia is preparing to organize Ride for Education, an approximately 600-kilometer charity bicycle ride from Siem Reap to Koh Kong from 25 July to 5 August 2026. The ride will be led by ODC’s founder, Im Chhaiya, as a personal act of commitment to keeping educational opportunities alive for Cambodian children and young people. This campaign is being organized at a critical moment for ODC. After years of growth and impact, the school is now facing a serious funding challenge that has already affected the number of students we can serve. This campaign is not a race. It is a journey of hope, resilience, and commitment to education.
Through this ride, ODC aims to raise funds and awareness to help fill the current funding gap and support the continued operation of its educational programs in 2027 and beyond. ODC is now seeking support from community-minded businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals who may wish to join this worthy cause and stand with Cambodian children and young people.
2. About Opening Doors Cambodia
Opening Doors Cambodia is a local NGO and not-for-profit educational organization located in Siem Reap. ODC is registered with the Ministry of Interior and recognized by the Royal Government of Cambodia.
Since 2015, ODC has provided English education, leadership development, scholarships, and learning opportunities to children and young people who may otherwise have limited access to quality education.ODC is not just a school. It is a life-changing mission that helps young people build confidence, discover their potential, and create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
What began with a small group of students has grown into a vibrant learning community serving hundreds of students each year. Many former students have gone on to university, professional careers, and leadership roles, while some have returned to serve as teachers and mentors for the next generation.
ODC believes that education can open doors, strengthen hope, and help young Cambodians contribute meaningfully to the future of the country.

3. Why This Campaign Matters
For many years, ODC has provided education, leadership development, scholarships, and opportunities to students from challenging backgrounds. ODC is not just a school. It is a life-changing mission that gives young people confidence, hope, and the chance to build a better
future.
Today, however, ODC is facing one of the most difficult financial periods in its history. Due to the withdrawal and reduction of funding from some international donors, ODC has had to reduce this year’s student intake from around 300 students to around 200 students.
This is not a future problem. It is already affecting children today. There is still a long waiting list of children who want to enroll, but because of the reduced budget, the school has had to reduce the number of classes it can offer.
While current reserves are expected to support operations through 2026, additional resources are urgently needed to help fill the current funding gap and support the long-term sustainability of ODC into 2027 and beyond.
Instead of giving up, ODC has chosen to take action. The Ride for Education is one of our latest initiatives to raise funds locally, build community support, and invite friends, families, businesses, schools, organizations, and supporters to stand with us for this worthy cause.
This ride is not only about fundraising. It is also a powerful sign of encouragement to the local people who will take part in this long and difficult journey of about 600 kilometers. Every kilometer represents hope, resilience, and our belief that education is worth the effort.
By supporting this campaign, your organization is helping ODC continue opening doors for Cambodian children and young people who depend on education, confidence, leadership, and hope for a better future.
4. The Ride
From 25 July to 5 August 2026, a team of ODC staff and supporters will ride approximately 600 kilometers from Siem Reap to Koh Kong. The route will pass through several provinces, including Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pailin, Samlot, and Koh Kong.
The journey is expected to take around twelve days, including the return journey to Siem Reap. This ride will require careful preparation, food, drinking water, accommodation, support vehicle, bicycle maintenance, safety equipment, first aid, and campaign communication materials.
5. Daily Sponsorship Request
Instead of asking one sponsor to cover the whole campaign cost, ODC would like to invite community-minded businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals to sponsor one day or part of one day of the ride.
Each day of the journey requires around USD 245 to safely support the team of five people, including riders and the support vehicle driver.

Depending on the level and type of support, sponsors may receive:

8. Why This Partnership Matters
This campaign can create real mutual benefit.ODC receives the support needed to make the ride safe, responsible, and possible. Sponsors receive public visibility connected to education, youth development, community service, and social responsibility.
For your organization, this is an opportunity to show that you care about the local community and the future of Cambodian children.
For schools, this is also an opportunity to model leadership, service, and compassion for students while supporting another educational organization working with young people.
An organization that supports education is not only helping one campaign. It is helping build Cambodia’s future.
9. Our Request
We respectfully invite your organization to consider sponsoring one day or part of one day of the Ride for Education. A daily sponsorship of about USD 245 can help cover the essential needs of the team for one day of the journey. Smaller contributions are also deeply appreciated and can support food,
water, accommodation, safety, transport, or campaign materials. We are not asking your organization simply to sponsor a bike ride. We are asking you to help
keep educational opportunities alive for children who may otherwise be left behind. ODC has changed lives for years. Now ODC needs the community to stand with us so we can continue changing lives. Your support will help ODC continue opening doors for Cambodian children and young
people. Together, we can help keep the doors of education open.
